haggi
Hi, I was able to do some light linking and shadow linking with including and excluding lights. But can I turn off "receive shadows" for an object?
hopbin9
Shadows are not something that you receive, they can only be cast. To disable an object from receiving shadows you must disable casting shadows from the source object.

Coming from maya I liked to know if the "receive shadows" flag for a geometry has a equivalent in Houdini. In maya you can let objects cast shadows but not receive shadows without turning off the shadows for any shadow casting object. But I think this is a thing that has to be done in the lightloop in a shader.
aghourab
Hi, I was able to do some light linking and shadow linking with including and excluding lights. But can I turn off "receive shadows" for an object? Thanks go to Kuba Roth for pointing the following out... Jump into your shader -> Surface Model (this must be unlocked) -> on the direct lighting vop untick "enable shadows" Edited January 25, 2012 by aghourab
