magneto
You guys will love this: It's a screensaver, but it's low-res and has annoying timers at the bottom. Otherwise killer concept. Can something like this be made inside Houdini? Seems simple, right? I wonder how he did it. 1
tmdag
this is recorded footage. You could try flip fluids for something simmilar
magneto
You mean it's actually filmed? It would be amazing if this was all random and real-time, real time as in slowed down like that. Even a high res pre-rendered version would be incredible

crunch
1) Put down a "Flip Tank" (shelf tool) 2) Create your font object 3) Make the font object an RBD object (shelf tool) Play with parameters and lighting. Frame 13 of attached .hip file. Around 10 minutes. That gets you around 10% of the way drop.hip

pclaes
This could also be a fun challenge - especially with the new viscosity controls in 12. Drop them in honey, multiple layers of colored liquids... Make the letters out of powder - or bubbling like an aspirin. Or hot like coals. Really cool idea!
magneto
I agree What also makes the effect very dramatic is the elongated displacement of the water. Edited April 7, 2012 by magneto
