soth3d
Hello everybody, my first post here. I am learning Houdini and I am considering it (in the future) as a main tool for our small company. The question I want to ask is: re the animation tools in Houdini robust enough for animator to animate character in real time? Example rig that comes with Houdini is quite (shall I say very) slow, even with geometry subdivisions lowered to the minimum. I am planning to do 3DBuzz rigging DVDs, but before I will invest many hours in studying, I would like to know your opinions, is animating character, or even multiple characters in Houdini possible? Cheers Tomek

soth3d
I never used this software but yes, you can animate single or multiple character in Houdini. Thx for the reply, but it is not really the answer to the question I have asked. Looks like character animation in Houdini is not really popular. I want to know if the rigged character provided with Houdini is so slow because is badly designed or just software is slow and development of fast rigs is not possible. michael
the auto rigs are a bit slow...but they're designed, IMO, to show off lots of things yo can do in Houdini rather than be super fast production rigs...
