kensonuken
hi friends, I want to use 3delight as the renderer and getting the shave and haircut fur as ribs into houdini. Infact we are trying to make houdini as tool of choise for entire layout and just like katana but thought to use Houdini instead for its all in one package. So whats the way to read the rib archives that too in Delayed rib archive in houdini 12. If this works we are done we can use maya only for char animation and take rest in H and Nuke. Please help us how to do this..

Delayed loads can be achieved with the delayed load procedural SHOP. You reference your RIB on disk and attach the SHOP to your OBJ using the shop_procedural parameter. It's about as simple as it gets. You can also use a standard RIB archive without delayed load. The parameter for this is in the Geometry folder in soho's parameter interface. All you have to do is add it to the geometry you wish to attach RIB to, reference some rib on disk and render. The geometry in your RIB will completely replace the OBJ you attached it to, so it's useful to attach rib to instance points.
