Is it possible to have representative geometry (gizmo) for HDAs?

Hi,

I am trying to make an HDA where I want to display a gizmo for the user to better visualize the operation.

Basically I want a gizmo like the Group SOP has when you enable Bounding Box option:

It creates this representative box for you to see, but it's not really part of the geometry. i.e. you geometry doesn't get the points and primitives of that box.

Is this possible to do?

You can set the Guide geometry from within the Type Properties.

Thanks Graham, I looked at the Edit Operator Type Properties dialog but couldn't find where to do that. The help for that dialog also doesn't mention anything guide related. Am I missing something?

It's on the Basic tab of the Type Properties window, between the fields for Representative Node and Editable Nodes. As usual, the docs are lacking.

Also since it's related, I might ask it here as well. What about objects like lights, cameras. Do they also use representative node parameter or is it done in a different way?

Can this also be done without using the HDK? Just curious how those types of object are setup
