'Point Cloud Open' cache problem.

I'm using a pointCloudOpen in cvex to a volumevopSOP which is reading the cvex shader to view the results in the viewport.

My problem is, if I change the point cloud, it doesn't update in the viewport (does at render time). I have "preload map" turned off on my point cloud open and I'm using point cloud close after everything. I've tried clearing the caches using the cache manager and also force compiling the cvex shader. Nothing seems to update to the new point cloud until I close Houdini and start a new session.

Any ideas on how to get around this? I can see it causing problems down the line.
