I often use the existing code to hack my way through to learn. Granted, it can get pretty complicated. However, it's one of the best place to start. As for the shader side, most of the core concept can be learned from the renderman shader. You won't have difficult time picking up rman shader if you learned vex and vice versa. Jason Posted January 13, 2004 Share Posted January 13, 2004 Also, many of the VOPs under Materials in the TAB Toolbar are actually VOP subnets.. just hit Enter and you'll dive down into the network and you can see how they were constructed with lower-level VOPs. But I find some tasks would be easier to deal with by writing a little code. So the way I would like to work is to code the odd VOPs and wire that into my VOP nets.
