Annon
Hey all, I've just been messing around with pyro in Houdini12.1 and can't seem to get the smoke_color out in anything but PBR. Is there a reason for this? In PBR my smoke_mask and fire_mask passes are horrible as well, which they're not in RayTrace or MicroPolygon.. Thanks Christian
Annon
Ok to half answer my own question: Micropolygon PBR seems to fix my mask issues... Is there a reason though why I can't get smoke_color out of normal raytrace or micropolygon? Tried it in 12.0 and it was the same deal. Scratch
Hmm...I didn't encounter that problem when doing pyro simulations. Have you tried to create a standard (not edited) mantra node, and just hit render after you create a standard fire simulation using the shelf tool? I guess it has something to do with your rendersettings or with your pyro shader. For what I can say in general is that PBR is working great when dealing with Pyro stuff. Since they implemented raytraced shadows so nicely in combination with volumes/pyro, PBR really works well! I never used the old micropolygon rendreing+shadow-maps combo again. Annon
Well if I create a standard (not edited) mantra node then I'm not getting secondary outputs am I...
Scratch
ok now I get it...its about the image planes. Hm...well I used them aswell, didn't have any problems. My settings for the planes within the mantra node: open-exr, 16 or 32bit, type vector (also for the masks, because some apps cant handle float (black/white) images), gamma 1. Hard to tell what went wrong in your case maybe try to also look at this file: He also used the image planes. Hope that helps!
