A. Morales
Hi ODForce Community, I'm currently a student at Gnomon and have been learning Houdini in my off time i recently have been studying houdini to create nebulas and star system, CMIVFX just came out with the Galaxy Effects tutorial and learned the setup on creating galaxy systems, it was pretty simple and I quickly wanted to give a nebula type system as a challenge to myself Now im sure alot of you have seen the video of Matthias Muller - vimeo.com/39822385 matthias also provided a clue on how he built the system in 3dsmax http://matthiasm.de/images/last_scene_tswli.jpg Which is a fairly simple method of creating these nebula systems, Now im trying to figure out how to use a base mesh , convert it into FlipFluids, add turbulence to the fluids, initital state it, then convert it back to Particles , recreating the FumeFX + Frost set up he has going on. If someone can show me the best path for this that be great Thanks! - amorales
Netvudu
The thing you´ll have to reconsider if you´re using an Apprentice HD edition of Houdini is that you can´t save .sim files so initial states are not an option (I know, a bit frustrating). You could simple cache it to geometry and you should be able to recreate his method... In fact I´m pretty sure it should be simpler in Houdini than it is in Max...
