excluding parts of Cloth Body Collider during simulation

Recommended Posts

First day playing with Cloth system.

My Body Collider mesh is a hopskotching character. The Cloth is a shoulder strap dress.

I am using the simple shelf tools to set up the simulation.

The hands of the character often graze the the cloth, at the hips, causing all kinds of chaos. Occasionally the dress gets caught on a knee in unsightly way. To handle this I simply delete-sopped the offending limbs prior to dopimport, and the simulation was faster and solved nicely.

Is there some kind of attribute I can set for part of my Collider geometry — to exclude points/prims from collision? Rather than the delete method I used?

There are many many point attributes for altering behavior of the cloth object, but none I can find for the collider. Am I missing something in the setup that the Shelf tools provide?

Perhaps it's an expression I need in dopimport/objpattern that indicates a group name? e.g. @collide_this

thanks for any assistance!
