samboosa
Hello! Forgive me for asking this seemingly simple question; Similar to how a lattice can deform shapes inside a cube, is it possible to deform a shape using some sort of irregular lattice? - Samboosa. edward
You can use the "points" mode in the Lattice SOP but for the best deformation probably: http://www.orbolt.com/asset/houdini_tools::PGMVC_capt_deform
pclaes
you might also want to look at the sops for deforming cloth: clothcapture and clothdeform. Also the wrapper otl that is part of this lesson is very useful - it is better than the default lattice since it can cope with rotations too. http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1540&Itemid=344 The radii are based on metaballs, so perhaps not as good as MVC - as that I think there the weights are based on the distance to the primitives of the lower resolution cage. -- Last time I tested this, this works well, but can get slow when your low resolution cage is not so low resolution .
