bandini
What's the secret? It does not work for me. I just get an error in Maya saying // Error: line 1: particleShape1: Object not found for -object flag. I have already tried putting particles on frame one and setting the exporter to start on the frame that particles first become visible, as that has been suggested before. Getting a bit frustrated. Please, any help would be appreciated.
bandini
Ok, from doing some research it appears that this is not currently possible with the standard maya alembic importer Seems like exocortex crate is the only way to do this at the moment... Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Please, correct me if I am wrong. That's been my experience so far as well. However as of the version I used for our last job, the Exocortex Maya Alembic plugin only exported point positions without velocity or other attributes. So we just calculated velocity with a Trail SOP. Hopefully attributes on particles from Maya will be supported soon.
dbukovec
hi! Another way is to use the partio plugin, we use it to render particles or instances. Only thing that you have to export in .bhclassic not bgeo. http://redpawfx.github.io/partio/
bandini
Thanks for the info. I'm going to check out crate and partio and see what works best. At the moment, I decided to use the Realflow plugins as my exporter/importer, although there are some limitations associated with that.
