csp
It is not the fist time I am using vdb collisions in FLIP simulation and it always works fine for me, but usually there is fluid collide with a solid object from outside but in this case I want a fluid inside a vdb container like a bottle and I want it to stay there and collide on bottle's walls as it moves. Is there any way to do this? Edited October 22, 2013 by cparliaros

csp
Hi Christos, Do you meen something like this? Igor Thanks Igor for the reply, this is exactly what i mean. I had the same setup but I had not computed the velocity of the container and pass it to the vdb. I think now, I understand a little bit more VDBs inside sims and how collision works. I have some problem in the first frame where there is no velocity to compute and the part of fluid passing through but that can be fixed easily. Thanks again Igor. XRM
For collision if you set the 'scale source volume' of 'source Volume' node inside DOP to 1 it will have the collision surface inside which is what you need in this case. -1 will make the outer surface available for collision. I'm not at a system so I can't check Igor's file Cheers!!! -Ranadeep

I found that some times may be some leak of the fluid but you can fix that by increasing the Scale Velocity on the Source Volume DOP. XRM
Hi Christos, I've attached a file. This is how I do it. VDB as collision.hip Edited October 23, 2013 by XRM
XRM
Well just checked Igor's file. Practically the same steps.
Diego A Grimaldi
Hey guys, sorry to bring up this old thread but I'm working on a shot and I'm running into the same problem. In my case the FLIP at some point starts spilling (I assume due to the obj vel even though it doesnt move extremely fast) I checked out both files you guys posted and I haven't managed to make it work.. I've attached my scene file and geos Could you please help me out? Thank you VDBLantern.zip
