how to link two or more ramps to each other

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am working on a new OTL at the moment and I am running in a small problem with my UI.

What I am trying to do is, to give the user the option to preview a noise pattern on a lowres grid, rather then his high res geo, so that he can dial in the parameters and shape the noise faster.

That is all working fine, for that I simply copied the VOP Sop that is responsible for that part and linked all parameters back to the VOP controlling the final effect on the actual geometry.

Then I linked the parameters and the curves up to the OTL UI, the controls of the VOP controlling the low res geo, and that works great. all parameters match and it does what I want.

The problem is that I can't find a way to link the ramp, neither the one on top of the OTL nor the referenced ramp inside the OTL, to the ramp controlling the final effect.

So I am basically looking for a way to link two ramps with all features, including the creation of new points in the ramp, to each other.

And yes drag and drop does not work... as soon as I create a new point it breaks.... not good.

Cheers and thanks for any tips and scripts in advanced,

-Juri

sadly I can't really do that, since the main effect uses a different method inside the vop to create the same deformation as the vop effecting the low res geometry.

And since the system is set up to only cook the effect when actually needed a switch before the main vop mean to cook a big part of the system up to this point for no reason.... delaying the user system interaction.

Is there maybe a call back script or something in that matter that could help me here?

Cheers,

okay so the solution is much easier then I thought... a simply attribute right after the ramp in the set up vops and a attribute reference inside the main effect does the same as the linking of two ramps....

so the problem is solved:)

Thanks for the help!
