Whatsinaname
Does anybody know how I can load VDB data coming from other software into Houdini? I created a simulation in Realflow2013, which can export data to VDB and now I wanted to see what I can do with this data inside Houdini. My problem is I cannot find the right nodes for importing VDB data, but I just find nodes for creating and processing VDB inside Houdini. Thanks in advance for any hints! jkunz07
The "file" node can read in .vdb files
Whatsinaname
Ah, ok. Thank you. I also found it is possible via File > Import > Import Geometry Then one can plug a VDBVISUALIZETREE SOP in there, deactivate Leaves and turn on Meshing, and a meshed version of the VDB coming from Realflow is displayed. Works quite nice.
jkunz07
Typically the "Convert VDB" sop is used for meshing
edward
I believe the meshing option on the VDB Visualize Tree SOP is there for legacy reasons. Convert VDB > Convert to Polygons should be much faster.
