harima
Hi All I am trying to grasp the difference between them I ve red the description of the Ocean Flat tank in Sidefx : '' This tool creates a FLIP tank simulation of a flat tank of particles similar to the FLIP Tank tool, but with the addition of a boundary layer of particles that helps suppress reflections at the edge of the tank and maintain the water level over time. The boundary layer also allows the tank to track a moving object, simulating only the area around the object. '' Ok.. I sadly dont get it . I can see the AutodopNetwork of the Flat tank that sinks and sources on everyframe but I dont get how it ends up being a different thing than sourcing once like the regular FLIP tank does. At the end we only source a stationary flat FLIP fluid no? Why delete and resource on every frame? I can also see that there is indeed difference in the simulation of say a cube falling and splashing. Could someone be kind enough to give a more thorought explanation in simple English for a beginner like me? Thank you
teratera
Hi! I think this boundary layer serves the purpose of the simulation not interacting with container walls. So it kinda just goes through there, and it's a lot easier for you to blend this sim area into something. This what the old pool-style setup was aslo for, when you had a "pool" around your container so the water just skimmed over. So now we have this very nice setup from SESI, and if you need "walls" you can use FLIP Tank. Note that you can resize container dynamically, which is super cool too. Hope that helps. I'm interested in this too but it seems I'm not able to find the option to resize the container dynamically: can you please help me? Is this option for the Flip or for the Flat tank? teratera
You can animate Size and Center parameters in the initial Ocean Source.
