bkashou
Hey everyone! So I've been working on this tornado sim for quite some time. I have the particles doing what I want them to, but adding the smoke sim has given me a ton of trouble. I've gotten the particles to emit the smoke, but I can't get the smoke to follow the particle path, it just creates a ton and becomes a horizontal effect as opposed to a vertical tornado 0_o. What I think it comes down to is, how do drive the smoke with the velocity and direction of the particles to keep it from sprawling out all over the place and staying contained in the walls of the tornado? If anyone could take a look at my scene and help me out I would greatly appreciate it:) Brandon Tornado_WIP_V4.hip

bkashou
I've done that, I've just had a hard time translating a bunch of them from the older versions of Houdini into H13 because the particle systems are so different:/ I'm not sure what works and what doesn't as far as the new system and I keep spinning my wheels 0_o
cenamorado
You could try making a fluid source and and using that to drive the sourcevolume, I doubt it's getting the data it needs from a connection as is, I'm sure there's a way to do it but that I know of yet. cenamorado_tornadoHelp.hip Edited March 1, 2014 by cenamorado
bkashou
Hey cenamorado! Thank you so much for your response lol:) I was able to get it to work a little better, but now I'm trying to figure out how to make the fluid look better and get rid of the particles in the render:/ I have an update of the file and an example of a frame rendered. If anyone could give me any pointers that would be great:) Tornado_WIP_V6.hip
cenamorado
I would say make your own shader using the pyro shader, and your mantra node is rendering everything, so specifiy what you want to render under the objects tab.
