CUDA, OpenCL - Mac/Windows - Houdini/Octane

Hi there,

I would really like some advice on some potential hardware upgrading. I currently have a Mid 2010 Mac Pro - 2x2.66Ghz 6-core intel Xeon, 64GB 1066 DDR3, and ATI Radeon HD 5770.

Ideally I would like to stay under OSX as I just prefer it as an operating system, but I do have viewport issues with Houdini and run it in bootcamp once my project gets too large. This is obviously a pain.

I would also like to run Octane Renderer under Cinema 4d and this only uses CUDA supported cards, and I believe Houdini supports OpenCL.   I would like therefore some advice on a new graphics card that will run both Octane Renderer and improve sim speeds using the GPU in Houdini. Will say the Nvidia Quadro K5000 be a good option for me?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

D
