borisb2
I need to cache out a pyro sim (explosion fire) that is 600 frames long. After about 450-550 frames the ROP-node crashes, saying: File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.447/houdini/python2.7libs\hou.py", line 54685, in render return _hou.RopNode_render(*args, **kwargs)hou.OperationFailed: The attempted operation failed.Error: Failed to save output to file "Z:/wtm/shots/explosions/caches/houdini/explosionC/004/explosionC.0478.bgeo.gz". I tried on different computers, caching to different locations including caching to the local hard-drive. I dont think its a disk-issue. The error randomly occurs between frame 450 and 550. There's enough RAM (24GB) and taskmanager is not saying its used close to max. - I had "save retires" to 0 (default). Should I increase that? - I am compressing the files to .bgeo.gz at writing. Should I try without compression? - anything else I could try? Thanks a lot! Edited October 27, 2014 by borisb2
eddgarpv
I have the same problem: a crashing mantra render at random frames when reading bgeo files but without compression. Already reported (using 13.0.582). An alternative could be caching sim files instead (probably this is the correct way to do it?)
