POP collision with instanced objects?

Hello,

 

At the moment I am trying to get particles to stop on collision with a bunch of flower spread across a field. I am instancing the flowers for optimization but when I use a popcollisiondetect and put the instance into the SOP path, it just doesn't work. Is there a possibility to do this, or should I just use a copy node instead? (preferably not, for optimization purposes)
