using joystick input

I was wondering if it is possible to use the input from a USB joystick

I just bought a PS2 clone controller for the PC.

The next trick would be to incorporate the P5 glove

An article about the P5 glove

And for only $12 US!!!

It has translation and rotation tracked and bends for each finger, perfect for puppetry. They may be releasing a new model and a left hand perfect for Lefties and two handed interaction. Combine Houdini with this and you have a perfect puppetry suite.

The SDK for the glove that has been released to the public. The new buzz about this glove is it is now cheap and the SDK now allows access to the absolute position of the glove to be outputted, before only the relative position of the glove was accessible from the SDK.

Has anybody used any input devices other than a mouse to control parts of Houdini?

though I haven't seen it, I've heard of people connecting midi keyboards and running them through chops. hmn... maybe I'll try that tonight. I'm probably missing some cable that I need, but I'll give it a go. Let you know tomorrow how that went.

Also, at work here we had a setup where you could controll an object with a joystick in houdini. I'm not entirely sure how that worked though. It may have even been that we were actually running a flightsim in the background that was piping information into houdini realtime... I remember hearing something about that. I'll try to find out.
