AdamJ
Hi all, I've been playing with the new point cloud functions and was wondering if it's at all possible to write out the temporary channels to the actual file itself. As I understand right now something like occlusion gets calculated but at the end of the render gets discarded. Wouldn't be useful to spit that information out and use it as a file cache, something a bit like Prmans caching system? Adam
Mario Marengo
Hi Adam, Yes, it would be most helpful to be able to have read/write access to a pointcloud texture. And as far as I know, the person who wrote those tools, has every intention of adding that capability in the future (not too distant, we all hope); but it certainly won't be there for the initial (official) 7.0 release (which should be eminent... as in "tomorrow" I think). Cheers! [edit] LOL!, I just popped over to the SESI site and noticed that yup... H7.0 has gone gold! break out the champagne everyone!! :balloon::balloon::balloon:[/edit]
AdamJ
That'd be great.. here's hoping for arbitrary channel access for the future
