AlirezaSKH
hey guys i have a problem. i have a shaded model in maya (arnold shader) i export it as fbx and import it in houdini with material. now i have a shaded model in houdini. i destructed it in houdini. how can i export the destructed model in a way it contains the shader(i want to render it with maya arnold)? (i exported it as alembic but it doesnt contain the shader) (i tried to export it as .ass but i couldnt export the uv and shader) thx
michaelb-01
.ass files should work I think? Have you promoted the UVs to vertex attributes?
AlirezaSKH
the problem with .ass files is hat u cant modify the motion blur in maya arnold. but i also didnt promote the uv to vertices.is that why i didnt get the uv in maya?
michaelb-01
yes thats a bit annoying, just do some test renders in houdini with htoa to get it right before exporting. I think you would have to promote the UVs to vertex attributes but i'm not 100%, you would have to test it
AlirezaSKH
thx i will give it a shot. sth that i found out is that fbx doesnt support arnold shaders and alembic too but i think i will stay with fbx that has no problem with uv and motion blur and has less bugs in production.
