beliveau.maxime
Hi everyone, I've been running into some issues trying to render displacement maps generated from the ocean_evaluate sop. If I use the ocean wave from the shelf, then no issues at all. If I build my own though, I end up with some really weird results. The pics below are simply from different camera angles and the results are all different. Any idea what's going on? Thanks! ps I'm using Houdini 14 Indie! displacement.hiplc
fathom
you setting your displacement bounds on your object?
beliveau.maxime
I don't know what that is...
beliveau.maxime
In my ocean surface shader the maximum displacement bound is set to 2.
fathom
select your wave geometry (at the /obj level) and edit the render properties. find "vm_displacebound" in the parameter editor and add it to your object. then set that to something 2 or 3. increase if you still have issues, but don't go crazy -- it can spike your render times. or you can use the shelf tool to make the geometry and find the shader assignment and steal the properties shader from that tool. given how important displacement bounds are, it's a bit curious how many hoops you have to jump thru just to adjust the value.
