Quick Q

Hi,

I'm trying to stop my shadows flickering when I render them out using Mantra. I have a very basic setup involving a floor, a box and a character. I have 5 lights, and two of them illuminate the scene from either side. The shadows cast by the box from these two lights are the problem. Frame 1 renders fine, but the further frames have choppy shadows that look horrible when the sequence is played. I guess this is quite common and just required something to be tweaked, but as a newcomer I don't know what that something is. Any ideas?

Hi djpeanut,

It looks like your geometry is merged together too many times or you tried a Cookie which didn't give you good results or something. ;) It also looks like you have a displacement shader on but did not turn on "Displace Bound".

Like Simon suggested, zip up the hip file & post it so someone can look at it. Or just copy & paste the object or SOP network into another hip file & post that instead.
