Render SIM, then render mantra .... ?

Hi - 

 

In ROPs i have a DOP linked into Batch, then linked into a Mantra node. I would expect it to render all the sim frames from the DOP first, then go back and begin the mantra render, but it just jumps straight to the mantra. 

 

(To kick it off I click SaveToDisk on the Mantra node, and select Node by Node)

 

any advice? 

 

edit: I should say, no .sim files are rendering, only the Mantra's .tif output
