marioteodoru
Hello, i am trying to make beer foam. I have the shape of my foam and i want to fill it with different sized spheres and then make and vdb to export to cinema4d. I have a very basic understanding of houdini, but i think i can manage if i have some good advice. What would be the basic operations? How can i do it by scattering the spheres inside my mesh? How should i proceed to pour particles? How can i make my container stay in place and not fall when in pour liquid in it? I look around and i can't find anything remotelly closed to a beer tutorial for houdini. Actually i can't even find a basic fill container tutorial. Can i get some help ? Thank you guys ! marioteodoru
I managed to scatter a sphere inside my object, with attribrandomize, which makes the spheres different sizes, which is good. If i increase the number of scattered particles, i have to go to a very high number (20000 at least) to get the volume filled, but most of the spheres intersect which is not good. From what i search i understand i should RBD the Copysov, which is making my head spin. I don't understand this. So, my scene is like this. I have an geo1, which contains my object that i want to fill (file1), my sphere, and the scatter, isooffset and copy1. I am using my object(file1) to scatter the spheres, so how do i use it to be filled by the scattered object when i RBD. How do i RBD this ? How do i make this scattered spheres fall into my object and settle, and how do i define my object as static and as a container. I get it that houdini is great, but man, i'm stupid... i just don't get it. I literally want to cry right now, is so frustrating to me, to not understand how this software works. I know modo, 3dsmax, cinema4d, zbrush, realfow.... but it seems i have to get born again to understand this software. Please help me out guys. All i'm trying to do is to fill a container with some spheres and i lost a week. Edited January 25, 2016 by marioteodoru
davpe
Hi, why don't you post your file, or some pictures at least, for others to see what exactly are you trying to do? Why are you trying to simulate this? Is it a shot of pouring the beer in the glass? If it's not, you don't have to bother with simulation. You only have to create a proper geometry and do some shader work. Solutions may be very different depending what exactly is the goal. marioteodoru
The first image is the network i manage to put toghether, but it doesn't work. The spheres get imported as a single object. The second one is the scatter inside my foam.obj I need to put much more spheres in the foam object, to fill it, and the spheres shouldn't intersect. It's not a pouring shoot. I just need to try how it renders, if it will look like foam or not. Thank you.
