cwalrus
Hi guys - If I render to Mplay, and then export the sequence to exr it looks different than exporting it to tif... even if both are 32 bit. What gives here? Anyone know? And which one is 'correct, ' so to speak? -Dr. Confused By This
Guest tar
it should be that tiff is sRGB colourspace and exr is linear - though some examples would help identify the correct issue. https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini13.0/render/linear
cwalrus
Yeah that's probably it - turns out I can make the tif and the exr look the same by unchecking "convert to image format's colorspace" on the export dialog. However, neither looks exactly like the image in Mplay - check it out: versus the Tif (which looks just like the exr)
Guest tar
In the end it's best to stick with exr format for a consistent workflow. It saves a lot of time. tiffs were originally created for the print industry whilst exr were created for vfx
