smoke_field fire_field Houdini passes can't find and use in NUKE

Hello folks!

I have some little issue.

I prepare my mantra node with extra image planes for render my pyro shader but when I put sequence in NUKE I can find available only direct , indirect emission and standart passes.

Before I start render I check single frame for that image planes, they was be available in image viewer.

Anyone knows how I can extract that planes from my exr sequence?

Thanks forward!

No need to check that in Nuke, you have a dropdown in the renderpane you can use to view your AOVs, just chose your mantra node, render a frame and they will be available in the dropdown.

With that cleared and you not having to check the files in Nuke, what AOV's are you trying to export?

nuke treats float channels as "other" channels.  and stupidly, rearranges them based on your sources so they'll change from one script to the next.  so "other.r" might be your fire matte one time, but in another script it's "other.g".

so i tend to just go ahead and make em vector aovs, tho you have to promote them as vectors as well.  that said, i find the matte approach is not so great.  you should export direct_emission and then your light components.  the direct emission is your fire, the volume aovs will be your smoke.... you can recombine them your beauty in nuke by just adding your aov's.

Thank you for your answer.

So that means I need re render my sequence with light components, because in nuke I can't use my float passes? I never hear about AOV before, this little bit confused me, but any way thank you!

Hello man! Glad to hear you again!

So, my task is try to adjust separately smoke and fire from my sequence, I make 2 passes in mantra fire_mask and smoke_mask, but after import in nuke my sequence I can add it in shuffle node, as say Fathom, problem is because this passes is float..

you can get at them with a shuffle -- they'll be in the "other" channels.  try red and green of that raster.

but i would suggest going forward to use direct_emission and per-light exports of your volume (or combined) lighting components.

Guys, problem with this passes was solve with simply setup Grade node with "mask" and "un(premult) by". Thanks anyway for your help. For now I easily can just my smoke and fire separately. About AOVs, damn it's just for different passes!
