Could you help me with the skin shader ? :)

Good evening here !

I'm brand new to Houdini but highly motivated to learn it :)

So far I'm doing some tests in order to render one of my characters (UDIM textures) with mantra using the provided skin shader.

Here is my SSS setup :

Here is the result :

I'm pretty happy with the result, but when I add a normal map (8 bits tiff), some black stuffs appears (really weird) :

What can I do to fix it ?

My second question is that if I disable the single samples parameter (in order to have a true multi samples SSS) :

Then my  werewolf is turning really brown :/

Playing with the Shallow/Medium/Deep density parameter I'm able to adjust nicely the power of the SSS.

But if I try to change the Shallow/Medium/Deep color parameter, the character remains always brown.

So... is there any tip in order to fix to restore the colors ?

Thank you in advance for any help :)

Seb

For the normal map issue, I found this thread :

http://forums.odforce.net/topic/19801-tangent-normal-maps/

However when digging in the skin shader I wasn't able to find some netbox subnets "normal convert" to replace with the fixed one.

It's really strange that in 2016 it's still a pain to load a simple normal map in Mantra T_T Or am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks

Seb
