djpeanut
Hi, Just a quick question, really. I've not a clue how to create Light shaders. How can I create an infinite light for a scene? (By infinite light I mean parallel light rays throughout the scene. I'm trying to represent the sun. Houdini doesn't seem to come with infinite light shaders built in.) Thanks! edward
I've updated the wiki: http://odforce.net/wiki/index.php/Lighting Please add your contributions on lighting there. Thanks!

old school
You don't need a special light shader to do this. It should all be able to be done with a default light. Place a Light. Aim it at the scene. Set the light projection from persepctive to orthographic. This gives you the parrallel ray "space" properly defined without having to do this in the light shader. Next, every default light added has an attenuation that essentially makes it infinite. Let's put it this way. If you were to move the light far enough away from the scene for you to start to see any attenuation in the light, I think you will have other problems related to precision, if you can actually put in those kinds of units. -jeff
