TheUsualAlex
Hey folks, How does modblend() works? I understand how to plug in the numbers and such, but I don't understand how Houdini spit out the result... And yes, I have read the instruction manuals. But I still don't really understand... Thanks, everyone.

TheUsualAlex
Hmm.... sighed.... I understand that. However, it's how Houdini work out the numbers to get the result is what I don't fully understand... I'll play with it some more. Thanks, Dante. sirogi
here goes... you kow how when... [insert appropriate bullshit] ... sorry about that ....read the following post for explanations.. and, yes, weight only goes from 0 to 1...otherwise it becomes unpredictable! sirogi
DARN! I posted something totally #@$@$#@arse@!#!@#crap! sorry guys...that's what you get for doing math at 10pm, after a long sleepless WEEK! linear blend and modblend are 2 diferent ways for blending 2 values.....really depends on what you're trying to achieve... insteed of explaining, I'll post a file soon to show the differences... Cheers!
sirogi
ok...here it is...hope it sheds some light on the modblend function... modblend.zip
sirogi
notice how when you apply a (%360) to the values into a linear blend, it will behave quite differently, will always return the geometric angle betwen 2 angles, not the algebraic one (made the nomenclature myself)... I also cranked one of the angles to go over 720 (2 full circle turns...) to make it obvious...forgot to say: scrubbing the timeline slider will vary the weight between 0 and 1... cheers! modblend2.zip
TheUsualAlex
Hey, I think I sort of understand what's going on now. Still not too certain, tho. Just need a bit more time. Thanks, by the way. Cheers, Alex
