wavesmack
Ok, Im acutally a halo specialist.. my 3d expertise is mediocre with master... BUT i need to solve this problem: I want a large surface of ice with a depth of x units.. to crack using an l-system that i shaped into a logo. the logo needs to look like it is cracking in a continuous loop then the logo itself falls into the ice leaving the water in its place. I know this might be a cliche' revival of a daffy duck cartoon... but it needs to be photo real EXTREME. I have managed to fail in several ways: i create lsys shape that cuts plane by using projection... but i thought if i extruded it into a solid line.. i could boolean in out of a surface that way. Not working. Then i tried to use this lsys line to cut the planes geometry in 2. that didnt work for me. I used a translate node to get my plane and 2d lsys to line up. There isnt a ice_break.pdf anywhere on the net that i can find. So i am really hoping the answers are here with you fine folks. I can find a solution in the search that solves it.. only brings it up a few times. Like the earth cracking might help if there was a solution for it there. feel free to email me, AND post it here if you know. thanks a million in advance, chris maynard -cmivfx

Ratman
Hey Chris, you might also wanna give a look at this video tutorial from FrenchSOP, which is breaking up an object procedurally, it might not be what you want, but i'm sure it'll help.
