RickWork
Hello, I'm using point instancing with mantra and my instances are oriented the wrong way. I have the normals set in a point sop to 0 1 0 . So I expect them to point up! As a test I'm using the famous teapot and it looks as if the teapots are randomly oriented. Anyone knows what's going on here? Maybe I'm just tired and my eye are playing tricks on me. haha. Thanks! /Rick
TheUsualAlex
Hello, Have you set your up vectors? Typically, just a normal alone my not be enough and you generally would need to provide another perpendicular vector to create a plane and lock your orientation.... Otherwise, even with a single vector, there's still 2 possible axis to rotate from. HTH Alex

deecue
hey rick, might be too late on this one but your instancing geometry can have normals in whichever way direction you want.. however, your instanced geometry must be oriented in the positive zed direction in order for it to follow the normals of the instancing geometry.. hth, dave
