DanR
Just changed operating system from Windows 10 to Kubuntu 18.04. Laptop is an Asus Q534U/NVIDIA 950M/16gb ram. First I thought it was the NVIDIA drivers so in konsole typed sudo apt remove --purge nvidia-* then sudo apt-add-repository ppa:graphics-drivers and finally sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall. This greatly improved Kubuntu boot time but had no affect on Houdini. The first issue I have is 35-40 second Houdini boot time and then changing from perspective to top or side view takes about 8 seconds each viewport change. Windows boot time for Houdini was about 7 seconds and no viewport issues. I updated to Kubuntu because Windows was constantly freezing with no solution from Microsoft. Not sure what else to do to alleviate this issue. Houdini Apprentice version 16.5.536. Edited August 9, 2018 by DanR
