Em_Fn
Hi, I have been playing around with the wire solver for the first time. I tried to use it with some guides I created , I think it's a bit fiddly to set it up nicely but I could not figure out why at around frame 60, the sphere that's supposed to collide with the guide started stretching the guide and pulling them which is not what I wanted , is it something to do with the collision object or the wires themselves ? pxptpw
Hi Em_Fn, have attached a modified hip file, hope this helps , from what i understand , you dont need to add the guide simulate to add collision , you can either point a collision geo in the guide simulate node (if you want to add add the guide simulate) or just add guideVdbcolide in either the groom or hairgen node , and if you are talking about the wire solver in the autodop, you can play around with the plasticity and elasticity and stretch attributes hope this helps FUR_003_mod.hiplc
Em_Fn
Hi pxptpw, that's super useful, I didn't know about it, thank you so much! I was hoping to give the guides some more movement when it reacts to the collision object, would you advice using the wire solver or the guide simulate (I wasn't sure if I had to use both, I watched the fur masterclass and it seemed to use both). And do you know any good resources to learn simulating fur (guides) or the wire solver in general ? Thank you!
pxptpw
glad it helped , there are many resources out there , as you had mentioned side fx masterclass, and this forum odforce is as useful as side fx forum added bonus you get an explanation and a scene file , peter quint on vimeo is great resource for most houdini related questions including wire solver , and there are newer posts which are extremely helpful as well for houdini in general and wire solver, http://www.entagma.com/category/tutorials/, http://www.tokeru.com/cgwiki/index.php?title=ConstraintNetworks, https://github.com/jtomori , http://www.toadstorm.com/blog , https://houdinitricks.com/ , https://benwattsdesign.com/ and there are many more out there
