kfu
Hi guys, So basically I was trying to replicate the same effect showing in this video: https://vimeo.com/263515402. Around 41 sec, there is a constructing effect happening. All I can think of is pre fracturing the object, sending the fractured pieces to do a RBD sim, and time reverse it? I have attached a quick test file down below. I'm pretty new to Houdini so I don't know if my approach is a good way of doing it. I'm sure there are easier ways to do it and have better control over the fractured pieces. If anyone have free time, please have a look of my files. And any suggestions or advice would be great appreciated. reconstruct.hipnc
StepbyStepVFX
Hi, there are many ways in Houdini to do that, and time reverse a sim is a good idea. Look at this video, it’s mainly about simulation of fire, but there is also a part talking about the same fx you’re looking for. Hope that helps you :-)

kfu
Hey guys, I'm having a better result now, of course I need add more detail later on, but for now, if you have time , please take a look of my file and give me some advice! For this I'm using attribute transfer to control active frame, but it's seems that the transfer is too quick that it's almost feel there is no active orders for the fractured pieces, any idea of any other ways to active different pieces? sim_test.hipnc
kfu
Maybe I can use points cloud for the transfer, is that more controllable for how fast it is?
