Oddgit
Hello, i know with CHOPs you can create an animation that is driven by sound, i was telling my friend about this and was stoked. I was wondering what the best way to create a deformed plane based on the music but have say the right end be where the playback is and as the music plays, the wave is forever changing at the lead edge but the rest stays what it was when it was formed. Similar to visualizers for iTunes. I am not the best with houdini, but i really want to learn it, and i figure this would be a good way. Rafal123
check the 'Houdini Hacker Contest' thread in WIP section. There's a project, made by Frank Firsching, a character who dance to the music. Maybe this will help U ?
Leon Amion
Garman is discussing this topic in the Gnomon Houdini 101 DVD http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/ghe01.html The cool thing with Houdini is that not only can you drive the animation from audio amplitude but you can also drive animation from frequencies. Say you have a song then you can let the BassDrum drive the feets and the hihat the hands etc. I can post a simple scene later on showing some audio processing. Also check out Derivative Touch Designer. It is based of Houdini and you can find lots of CHOP information there. http://www.derivativeinc.com/home/home.asp
