Shockwave Effect Question - example shown

Hey guys. First post here. Very new to Houdini.

Does anyone know how to do this effect? Could you tell me how? More specifically, it looks like a shockwave that radiates outward from a fixed point....but the shockwave isn't totally uniform. As it radiates outward, it creates little randomized circles and shapes. Please note, I'm talking about the opening shot with the mint-green background. Not the thumbnail of the video.  See video here:

If you guys could point me to tutorials (or maybe it's a combination of several different tutorials), that would be really awesome. I would do it myself, but I don't know what search keywords to use to find out how to make a similar effect. I've only been using the program for a few weeks!

Edit: I found an entagma tutorial entitled "differential line growth". This is pretty close to what I want to do. The main difference is that I want it to radiate outwards from a fixed point, and I need it to be happening on actual geometry...this tutorial seems to be just lines. I'm going to go through the tutorial right now and see if I can figure it out myself. If I do, I'll be sure to share my findings.
