Need help with Vellum grains being affected by a moving object

Hey,

I'm currently trying to get my skeleton object to interact with my vellum grains sim, I want it to start from sleeping and get awakened by the character animation pushing through it to imitate snow. 

Any help would be appreciated!

If you could explain more, how/why this makes sense to Houdini will be even better to build my understanding for the program as I'm still a noob :)
