Setting up materials for multiple renderers

I am trying to setup my scene to render with Redshift, Mantra and 3DLight and do some comparison renderings. I am currently having problems doing an agnostic material assignment. I though I could use a "Material Collect" node and feed in the 3 shaders but so far only 3DLight seems to know what to do. RS and Mantra have issues.

Any recommendation how to solve this? Do I have to setup a LOPs Stage and do material variants and switching to accomplish this or can I do in my normal OBJ/MAT/OUT context?
