MADjestic
Hi there, is it possible to run DOPs simulation with proxy geo and then substitute the lowpoly geometry with high-poly geometry? Basically (in theory) all we need is to get the transformation of an object and pipe its' transform params into new arbitrary geo. Is there a simple way to do this? Thanks. Visual Cortex Lab
here's a simple scene I did long time ago for the same purpose... hope this helps.. and hope this is a correct way to do this... cheers _DOP_chairs_1.hipnc.tar.gz
MADjestic
[one' date=Dec 4 2006, 02:03 AM' post='32440]here's a simple scene I did long time ago for the same purpose... hope this helps.. and hope this is a correct way to do this... cheers Thanks sum][one, however I am afraid I didn't express myslef clear enough. Ideally I would like to use the result of the DOPs simulation with proxy geo for highpoly geo - i.e. there are cases when one can be satisfied with the proxy geo precision simulation, but would like to simply substitute the proxy geo with the highpoly geo for 'final rendering' - thus _not _ rerunning the simulation again. P.S. sorry, sum][one forget my reply - this is really what I need- it's just my buggy windows box where I tryied your example - the refreshment time with the chair animation made me think that the simulation is actually rerun, hehe. Thanks!
Visual Cortex Lab
eheheh I was actually checking my scene again once i started reading your answer... ... glad you found it usefull... as i said.. this is an old scene.... and I'd make it in a different way now maybe... but that was a "fast reply" to your question and I'm happy it helped you out. cheers. p.s. DOP is the part of houdini i know the least ... I need to check that Gnomon DOP DVD out soon ..
B.Walters
#17 in the DOPs FAQ has an example of that (17-fetch.hip if I'm not mistaken)... there are several conceivable ways to do this - so let me know if you want an example of another way and I'll work up a quick scene. http://www.sidefx.com/exchange/info.php?fi...p;versionid=
