Metaball Color To I3d??

hi eveyone~

how can i get metaball color to i3d shader..

seached lots of i3d articles include the jason's,

must be my lack knowledge..still can't make it..

Could someone do it in hip file?

i posted nosie i3dshader one from jason's tutorial..

I decided not to delete the original post however, coz I think that it makes some sense.

It's not that straightforward as you might've expected.

try this one as a starter:

hdox://houdini/content/vex/functions/metaimport.html

-i.e. by default you can't write color channel into i3d texture (at least not using default shaders). One would have to create a custom i3d shader, or use a pointcloud with appropriate channel data, converted to i3d via i3dgen program and then read it in with a custom Fog shader, or use another approach, illustrated in AndrewVK's metamarch shader (reading in metaball\pointcloud's attributes instead of i3d texture) - search the Rendering forum for the v.02 version of this wonderful shader. Then you can study it\rework for your own needs.
