Chad Stevens
Hi There I'm very new to Houdini (Long time 3ds Max user) and I'm really loving it so far. I have a problem when I use the copy to points node. I have a circle that I'm using to copy boxes to each point, the boxes have been stretched and are pointing away from the circle. everything looks fine and works well, but as soon as I start rotating the circle, some of the boxes rotate on their local axis. I would have thought it should stay in the correct orientation, but they do not. This is not an issue if I use a transform node after the Copy to points node, only before. It's a similar problem when I try to copy to points on a sweep profile that is at an angle. Is there a solution to this? Cheers.
Fenolis
The JoyOfVex series will be of much help to you, this chapter in particular for this problem.
Chad Stevens
Hi Fenolis, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that is all beyond me at the moment, I tried a few of the things in the document you suggested, but a lot of it just goes over my head. Is there a more specific route to take? I've attached the scene with what I'm trying to do, I need all the boxes to have their top face pointing in the same direction (along the curve) any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Chad Stevens
I think I've managed to figure it out, it was actually on the previous page. https://www.tokeru.com/cgwiki/index.php?title=JoyOfVex16 To lock roation I used v@up = {0,1,0}; Thanks again for the help. Aizatulin
You can also apply orientation along curve node on circle for stable frames.
