cspears2002
I'm trying to model a simple bucket to use later in a dynamics sim. Unfortunately, I'm not happy with the pinching that occurs at the upper rim after the Subdivide SOP is added. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I attached the .hipnc file to this posting. vol_210_chris_bucket_v03.hipnc

cspears2002
I've finally got the general shape of the bucket down. I want to be able animate the handle. I want the handle to rotate with the spheres as pivots. I've played with the rotate and pivot parameter in the Transform SOP to no avail. vol_210_chris_bucket_v04.hipnc
old school
Best to turn the handle in to an object and animate it there. To align the pivot, I RMB on the geo1 (handle) object and turned on the Object Origin and in an orhto view quickly lined up the pivot. This should work for the Transform SOP as well. It's just that using a Transform SOP for this is not the right way IMHO. vol_210_chris_bucket_v05.hipnc If you really need to generate a sequence of bucket geos, you can dump another object down and object merge the bucket and handle there setting the Transform Object in the Object Merge SOP to "." or "here". cspears2002
Ok, I got the bucket's handle to rotate. However, I do have a question regarding the Object Merge SOP. For the handle, I created a seperate geometry OBJ and parented it to the bucket's body. The node with the handle's geometry is called geo_handle. If you jump into geo_handle, you will see an Object Merge SOP called object_merge_handle. This is the node that I used to bring the handle into geo_handle. When I first created object_merge_handle, I put a "." at the Transform Object parameter. However, the handle would not rotate. The handle did rotate after I removed "." Why is that? vol_210_chris_bucket_v05.hipnc
