rdg
I just noticed that as soon as I add a trail to my network my workflow crashes: delete - do stuff - copy Example: three spheres delete all but one (stamp) color this (stamp) copy to get all three If there is a trailSOP in the "do stuff" part the copy stops. I think I can generate the trails/velocity before copy/delete, but maybe there is an explanation why this cannot work. Bypass the trailSOP in the attached file to see what I am referring to: trail_breaks_em_all.hipnc Thank you Georg
3dFrosty
Hey Georg,, I've had a look at your file... and it didn't seem to have any translation information for the trail to be demonstrated... I tweaked a few things.. but if your 'workflow' crashes when you activate the trail, I have no clues.. I'm trying to develop an alternative / custom version of the trail.. basically because I'm having problems with the caching.. and need more control over the shape of the trail... I've attached another file which was past on to me by my tutor.. This is based on copying geometry.. At the moment I've working on a particle based trail.. so particles are emitted every frame and then a shape is copied onto each particle.. then using the copySOP to scale the sphere according to the copy number... I've also attached an image of teh scale being base on a ramp with in the popNet, meaning you can create a specified trail shape.. Hope this helps.. and if you find and cools ways of developing your trail let me know... rdg
nice setups you got there. I don't know what my inital setup should do back then , guess it was experimentation. You are right: no transform no trail ... but the crash is gone ... As I had a talk about this just a few minutes ago with chris(virotic): here is another approach using chops to lag/trail some moving geometry. chop_lag_trail.hip Georg errata: 0.2 * ($C/$NC) in the lagCHOP instead of 0.2 * $C looks good, too Edited April 21, 2008 by rdg
