Issue with Karma XPU Rendering: Glass Cup Turns Black, and How to Render Beer with Bubbles?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm working on rendering a transparent glass cup filled with beer using Karma in Houdini (version 20.5.278). I've set up the materials using MaterialX, and everything looks correct when rendering with Karma CPU. However, when I switch to Karma XPU, the glass cup turns completely black.

Could anyone help me understand why this is happening and how to resolve it? Additionally, I'd like to know the best approach to render the beer with bubbles inside the glass. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I can' t replicate, however, I don' t understand where you captured the Base / Specular with respect to the Glass material.

It looks like a new definition of a Material , because if it was in Edit Material (right click Material Linker on Glass / Edit Material Network) then dive into it in the Edit Material Node that is created, you would have checkboxes in front of each parameter , and  I don' t see them

Here is a file that works on my workstation, both in CPU and XPU.

Try to render it, and if it works you can find the problematic parameter.

If it doesn't then.... We'll see.

I see Optix[ Idle], which is good

Can you give the specs of the Nvidia GPU you're running ?
