New to Houdini and want to know Best Way to Learn Procedural Modeling?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am new to Houdini & totally blown away by how powerful and flexible it seems. I have been playing around with the basics but procedural modeling feels a bit overwhelming so far. I come from a more traditional 3D modeling background so the whole node-based workflow is still new to me.

I want to hear from folks here—what is the best way to get comfortable with procedural modeling in Houdini? Are there any beginner-friendly tutorials, projects or resources you would suggest? Also, do you think it is better to focus on learning VEX or just stick with nodes for now? Also i have check thi https://forums.odforce.net/topic/6803-challenge-1-houmongoDB-coursese-of-cards-apprentice-archform/  Any tips on how to break down the learning process or common pitfalls to avoid would be amazing.

I want to build some cool assets & effects but do not want to get stuck trying to learn everything at once.

Thank you.:)
