Tamis
hey hey, i'm making a explotion using metaballs turning them into .bgeo and then turning them into .i3d. atm i'm rendering and visualising them with the isso offset sop. but in my opinion this is kind of a waste. why rebuild something thats already build ? so i'm looking for some kind of node that can just import the i3d files for rendering. sadly i can't find any thing ??? what am i doing wrong here ?? or correct O_o ? thank you in advanced tamis van der laan
stevenong
You can render metaballs directly as volumes. Check out the FX Tool shelf over at the H9 Blog. Also, search through the SESI forum for threads related to this. Cheers! steven

stevenong
Okay, you can render .i3d files using Volumes too. Go to SHOPs, put down a Mantra Image3D Volume Procedural, specify the .i3d file & assign the procedural shader to a Geometry Object under Render > Geometry tab > Procedural Shader. I've attached a hip file that doesn't render nicely but should give you an idea of the setup. Cheers! steven i3d_volume.hip
stevenong
Hi Tamis, If you download my hip file, please assign the Basic Smoke shader to the volume_teapot Object. Material tab > Material: /shop/basic_smoke Please let us know how it goes & post some renders if you can. Cheers! steven
