n_vfx
Hi, I might come to this topic from a programmers view but to me it makes sense to debug your scenes and printing variables on the fly (or step through) to textport. How would I do that? I've been trying to "capture" $SPEED from particles, so that I can see what ranges they're in. Maybe I'm thinking like a programmer here but a "trace" or echo within an expression, is that possible? /.

aracid
hey there have u seen the details page? its one of the options u can use too have a spreadsheet of what ur attributes are. right click on ur scene view and a list of windows will appear, the details view is the one you're after. alternatively u can press alt + 8, to see the same window. theres also the option of visualising attributes on points, under the display options - guides & markers-> Custom u can add any attribute you wish to see. ie try creating an Attribute Text, a new little option appears, u can then edit that and specify which variable you wish to lookup. it defaults to N, so test it by adding a normal onto your geometry and you'l be saturated with numbers on the object works well with particles. hope this helps
n_vfx
Thank you! I was obviously thinking more like it would be a problem getting these numbers out. I'm slowly learning not to "teach" houdini what to show me, it's already there. Hehe.. saturated yes, thanks for the "heads up". .
